Position: Family Resource Center Director

Date of hire: August 2012

My favorite children's book/story:

C is for Cupcake by Carolyn Haywood

My favorite children's books include anything my eight-year-old daughter, Bridget and I read together! C is for Cupcake is one of my favorite books because I modeled for the pictures in the book when I was a little girl, plus it is a sweet-old-fashioned children's story.

Fun facts about me:

• My husband, children and I recently welcomed (through adoption) a new child into our family! We are thrilled to now be a family of 6!
• I married my college sweetheart, Jim Stuebner, and we've been happily married for 22 years!
• I was an exchange student in Sweden when I was in junior high.
• I worked in the Aviculture Department at Sea World — with the Emperor Penguins — when I was in High School.

Why did you decide to work with preschoolers?

Children are such beautiful gifts — they truly are little miracles! If it were up to me, I'd always have a little baby in the house!

I made the decision to come here to work because I loved my time here as a parent at the Children's Center. I loved volunteering on the Children's Center's Board, so, it was an easy decision to join the staff! When I was approached to be the Family Resource Center Coordinator I jumped at the opportunity!

I love getting to hear the children's laughter and sweet voices each day! My work makes me feel happy!!!!

What do you love the most about teaching/working with little ones?

Being on the Administrative Team at the Children's Center is such a blessing. I am continually blown away by the staff, children and parents at this school! Having the opportunity to bring cutting edge parenting speakers to our families at no cost, is something that sets our preschool apart. I am honored to be a part of a school where children and parents' growth is valued, treasured and acted upon.

From your perspective, what makes the Children's Center so special?

I love that the Children's Center invests in educating both children and their parents.

I love that we are a part of the Church community, but everyone regardless of their faith is welcomed with open arms.

I love the kindness, support and love shared between the children, staff and parents.

I love the amazing knowledge, guidance, organization, creativity of our entire staff ... especially our Leader, Non Mead!

But, most of all, I love the happiness, joy and positivity that IS the Children's Center .... The loving, caring and kind atmosphere is simply contagious!
