Date of hire: August 2015
My favorite children's books:
I love the classics: Lentil, Make Way for Duckling, There's a Nightmare in my Closet and Where the Wild Things Are bring back memories of being a child. And, I read Dr. Suess' Oh! The Places You'll Go at least 1x/month to anyone who will listen. The book always reminds me to believe in myself: "Kid, you'll move mountains!"
Fun facts about me:
I am a crock pot wizard.
I played Divison 1 volleyball in college and am way too competitive. I'm working on that...
I once told myself I would never drive a mini-van. That was 2 minivans ago.
Why did you decide to work with preschoolers?
I work with preschoolers because they are filled with wonder and imagination and a love for life. I feel lucky to be able to spend my days with people so interested in making friends, exploring their world and laughing out loud.
What do you love the most about teaching/working with little ones?
I love that these little guys help me to slow down and appreciate the beauty and magic in our world. I love how excited a child can get about seeing a caterpillar, or a rainbow, or a lego table.
From your perspective, what makes the Children's Center so special?
The staff at this school so genuinely care about each child and each other. It is an environment filled with respect, admiration and love. My three children attended school here, and I just want to keep that feeling of togetherness going.
