Bert Loughmiller

Bert Loughmiller (Teacher Bert)

Teaching: Wood-working

Date of hire: June 2006

My favorite children's book/story:

A Fish Out of Water by Helen Palmer

Fun facts about me:

I am a private pilot.

Why did you decide to work with preschoolers?

I particularly enjoyed time with my grandsons when they were preschool age. But it happened while I was still working and they grew up so fast. Retirement has provided me with the opportunity to be a part of that time in the lives of our preschoolers, year after year.

What do you love the most about teaching/working with little ones?

I get a kick out of introducing each child to "grown-up" tools, then helping them make something of their own choosing. It's very rewarding to see the joy in their eyes brought on by what they've proudly accomplished.

From your perspective, what makes the Children's Center so special?

We are an extension of each child's family, staffed with people who not only are excellent at what they do, but more importantly, love each child just as they are while helping them to grow toward their fullest potential.
